Prince Caspian

BETTER THAN THE FIRST MOVIE. Except maybe for the portrayal of the Talmarins with the image typical that of an Iraqi terrorist muslim community, the christian context undertones were more subtle this time around. As for the Narnians, even though Tumnus (portrayed by the love of my life, James McAvoy) was greatly missed, I have to admit that the creatures here are more badass. We've got the Jamaican centaurs, the war-freak mouse Ripicheep (seriously, do not feed that thing caffeine), the trees that could give the LotR's ents a run for their twigs, amongst many. Another great thing about this movie is the portrayal of the characters, especially the Pevensie kids. I've been impressed with them since the first movie but they've grown even more impressive in this one. There's Peter's struggle as a leader and as a boy coming to terms with being a man. William effectively brought to the audience Peter's frustation as a high king trapped in a boy's body. He was headstrong, passionate and as im...

Gossip Girl (TV)

This is definitely my newest guilty pleasure.

I dunno... I guess I just love watching over-privileged, under-parented trust fund brats on TV.

Let me start with the cast. Leighton Meester is my favorite amongst those that make the female cast. The way this doe-eyed girl portrays such a wide range of emotions through that gorgeous peepers of hers makes her a rare gem. My favorite from the male cast is Chace Crawford for the very same reasons. Best-looking cast on TV. Hands down.

The scandalous, shocking and unbelievably sexy love affairs make this show even more insanely seductive. The Nate/Serena & Chuck/Blair storylines are definitely the best come-hither subplots of today's television.

The people behind it are well-mixed. Josh Schwartz, the creator, debuted with "The OC" and now his two new babies, "Chuck" and "Gossip Girl", are a big hit. Next, The music arrangement is done by the same person who arranges the music from The OC and Grey's Anatomy -- Both shows whose soundt...

Requiem For A Dream

The film is a visual masterpiece. This was further complimented by a haunting original score (later borrowed by "Lord of the Rings" & "Sunshine").

It starts w/ a scene of a fictional tv show hosted by a Tabby Tippons (think Wowowee). The crowd are repeatedly screaming, "Juice by Tappy! Juice by Tappy!" Suddenly, the screen goes dark. We are immediately introduced to Harry Goldfarb (played by Jared Leto) who is apparently stealing his mother's television. Harry's mother, Sara (played by an unrecognizable Ellen Burstyn) hides in the closet. Harry, feeling guilty, walks towards the closet and says in a gentle voice, "Ma? Come on out... please ma?" This is where the first few minutes of their haunting score begins, very subtle and slow at first. Inside the closet, Sarah mutters to herself, "This shouldn't be happening. And even if it's happening.. it'll be alright. Yes, it would. In the end, it's alright." And then...

Boom! The title hits you in an in-your-face manner. The haunting s...

Becoming Jane

I hoped for it, yes, but never have I imagined that anything can come close to the glorious & poignant elegance of Joe Wright's period-piece (Pride & Prejudice).

Not until the life of its author has been made into film.. however speculated the romance was.

The overall cinematography greatly resembles that from Joe Wright's direction: The amazing attention to detail, the reflective angled shots of the characters & the concentrated focus on particular subjects to make the audience linger on a certain emotion.

Anne Hathaway is on her medium but I daresay that her role as Jane Austen is her best role to date. By replacing quirk with more elegance, independence, poise and composure.. she's towered over her previous acts as Andy Sachs, Princess Mia & Ella Enchanted & showed that she has a great deal of chance to avoid being typecasted.

James McAvoy, my favorite actor (second only to Cillian Murphy), delivers an intense performance yet again - reducing me into nothing more than a ...

In The Land Of Women

I had high hopes for this movie. I tried desperately hard to really like it. I did. But it just... blows.

I'm a big fan of Adam Brody that was why I was extremely disappointed when halfway through, I almost wanted to skip the entire thing.

Adam is not a character actor so I wasn't really surprised that his acting wasn't that impressive. Every character he plays is not a character at all. It's just Adam with a different name - which is fine with me because, well, I love Adam!

Kristin Stewart is a rapidly developing actress.. she's still got that tomboy charm but now it's almost hard to believe she's that same girl who played Jodie Foster's character's daughter from Panic Room. I love how her character reminds me so much of myself.

Meg Ryan is a good actress and after all these years, she's still got it.

So no, the problem isn't the actors.

It's not the plot either. It's a poignant script although there were a couple of dragging parts here and there. But it was tolerabl...

The Chumscrubber

The question: Are you ready for generation Rx?

Imagine a town shaped like a dolphin - a place inhabited by freaks and subhuman creatures... where the parents never notice if their kids are kidnapped, suicidal, juveniles or even dead; and where the kids would do absolutely anything for the "happy pills." Weird huh? Wait until you actually see the movie.

The Chumscrubber is a mix of crazy comedy and eccentric drama perfectly delivered through spot-on production, cinematography, screenplay and direction amongst other things.

The performances were perfectly executed by a powerhouse cast including: Jamie Bell, Glenn Close, William Fichtner, Ralph Fiennes, Carrie Anne-Moss & Jason Isaacs.

And the soundtrack was just as crazy and eccentric as the movie (includes songs from Rooney & Snow Patrol). Credit due to the marvelous James Horner for the compositions.

*conjures up Izzie Stevens* Seriously. Seriously! Watch the film!

Right now, my guts say she was a bestfriend.

Then, in a Titanic twist, the boat started sinking and all the powerlines were cut off. Water started leaking in slowly and we had to try to find a way to make it to shore safely. We bumped into two British guys. Also 14 or 15. Twins. Hotties! Their looks was a cross between a young John Lennon and Gregory Smith. Very very blond. Anyway, the bestfriend started flirting ...
